A week ago on Monday Night RAW, after a quick victory over William Regal and Vladimir Kozlov, The Hart Dynasty were attacked by The Usos and Tamina.
Tamina (Sarona Reiher) is the daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy Snuka. She is recognized as the first female wrestler to come out of the Samoan Wrestling Family.
The Usos (the Samoan Soldiers), Jonathan Solofa and Joshua Sammy are the sons of Solofa Fatu (Rikishi). The two are currently known as Jimmy and Jules Uso, and are the current FCW Florida Tag Team Champions.
The Usos are nothing like their ancestors. They are not “wild” or “savage.” Tamina has diction, which is less than can be said of Superfly. The trio not only made an impact on their first night on RAW, but repeated their actions when they layed out the Harts for a second week in a row.
The Samoan Soliders vs. The Hart Dynasty
Regarding what Tamina said, the Harts may have an impressive wrestling lineage, but the Samoan Wrestling Family, also as impressive, have been overshadowed. The Usos do not only provide the perfect antithesis for the Hart Dynasty, but it has created a war between the two most important wrestling families.
The Usos and Tamina are not currently listed on the main roster, but a future Unified Tag Team Title match seems evident.
Curt Hawkins and Vance Archer
Two forgotten individuals have decided to form a tag team. Vance Archer tried making a name for himself in ECW with matches against Shelton Benjamin and Tommy Dreamer, but he never made an impact. Curt Hawkins, a former WWE Tag Team Champion, use to be partners with Zack Ryder until he went solo.
In a tag team match on SmackDown, the two fought against an unknown local team. Obviously jobbers used to boost Archer and Hawkins, but the only impressive one was Hawkins. Maybe it’s his long hair, or the way he went for that Shawn Michaels-like elbow job, but Curt Hawkins, with the right gimmick, can become a great solo act. Vance Archer just reminds me of Kane: very tall, power moves, but little substance.
Honestly, this seems like a poorly put together team. They were apparently given 30-days to make an impact, and I have yet to see it.
Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov
Since ECW has been dead and burried, William Regal and Vladimir Kozlov have patched things up and have reformed as a tag team. However, during one talk show segment on ECW, Santino Marella has been relentless in recruiting Kozlov to form a new tag team.
Kozlov had turned down Santino’s offer hundreds of times, but after what took place on Monday things may have changed. In a mix-gendered tag team match, Santino Marella teamed up with Divas’ Champion Eve Torres against William Regal and Maryse. While the referee was distracted, Kozlov attacked Regal with The Iron Curtain.
Santino and Kozlov have yet to showcase their effectiveness as a tag team, but if this angle has been dragging for twenty weeks, it better be impressive.
Fact: Santino Marella, during his days in Ohio Valley Wrestling, wrestled uder the name Boris Alexiev, a Russian shoot fighter gimmick. As Alexiev, he was booked to dominate opponents with stiff strikes and submission style wrestling. Sound familiar?
If Santino reverted back to his shoot fighter gimmick, then the team of Kozlov and Alexiev would be ridiculous. With Santino’s speed and Kozlov’s power, the Italian-Russian duo can dominate the tag team division.
