In light of recent injuries during a match with Rey Mysterio on SmackDown, The Undertaker has been taken out of commission. To explain the absence, Teddy Long announced that The Undertaker was found in a vegetative state. Then Kane announced that his brother is dead and will never rise again.
A bit dramatic… but how often hasn’t the Phenom been laid to rest throughout his tenure in the WWE? It’s either to heal injuries, or reinvent himself. So with that said…
Who is responsible for putting Taker in a vegetative state?
NXT World Order
At first I assumed it would only be Wade Barrett in order to cash in on his championship opportunity at the Fatal 4-Way PPV. But after what took place at the end of RAW, many believe, including myself, that the NXT rookies are responsible for what happened to Undertaker.
It’s a perfect way to dominate the WWE. What better way to prove dominance over the WWE than to kill off the only WWE superstar who has never lost at WrestleMania?
Fatal 4-Way Opponents
Big Show and Taker have history, but Show has never been a sneak attack type of guy. Big Show is the largest athlete and has no need to fear a man he’s made bleed.
Jack Swagger must defend his World Heavyweight Championship in a Fatal 4-Way stipulation match. Swagger has had the pleasure of facing off against UT. And even though the Phenom does provide a great risk for Swagger losing his title, Swagger is too arrogant to admit that anyone could best him in the ring.
After C.M. Punk won his third WHT at the end of a hellacious TLC Match, Undertaker made his return by choke-slamming him. Afterwards Punk lost the title at Hell in a Cell PPV. Sure, Punk has a lot of grief with the Phenom, but he also holds the prestige of being the only man to force the Deadman to “tap-out.”
In addition, C.M. Punk is the type of man to destroy his opponent only if he can recruit followers to the S.E.S. in some way.
Fatal 4-Way Replacement
(Non-kayfabe) Ironically, the man replacing Undertaker is the cause for Taker being out of commission. The Undertaker suffered a broken orbital bone in his match with Rey Mysterio on SmackDown. The orbital bone broke when Mysterio connected with a Seated Senton to the face of The Undertaker.
(Kayfabe) Rey Mysterio has lost many loved ones in this business, and would never cause that pain to another.
Sheamus explained perfectly on RAW. When he took out Triple-H, he made sure everyone knew. And if he was the one who took out Undertaker, he wouldn’t be shy about it. Sheamus is all about escalating his career, and knocking off The Phenom would propel his career to legendary status.
If anyone has a grudge with Undertaker, it’s Edge. Edge made his impact on SmackDown by cashing in his 2nd Money in the Bank on Taker after a steel cage match. The feud escalated to where Edge got Undertaker banished from WWE. Then Taker returned to not only defeat Edge in a Hell in a Cell match at SummerSlam, but choke slammed him “straight to hell.”
If this was 2008, then Edge would be a no. 1 suspect. But in 2010, Edge had planned to be the Great White Hope of SmackDown, until he was drafted. With Undertaker on SmackDown, Edge has no reason to worry about him. Undertaker cannot stand in his way of championship gold.
At WrestleMania XXVI, Undertaker ended the career of Shawn Michaels. It’s been about 2 months since anyone has seen Shawn Michaels. He vowed that he would honor his promise to the fans and to Taker.
But could Shawn Michaels have had a nervous break down and put UT in a vegetative state?
