No. 1 contender for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship: Mr. Anderson vs. Matt Morgan
Jeff Hardy has royally screwed over both Rob Van Dam and Mr. Anderson. And instead of beating the hell out of him, Anderson is taking his frustrations out on Matt Morgan. Sure, Anderson doesn’t want to look weak in a locker room full of hungry guys waiting in line for a title shot, but is risking your state of mind worth it? As for this bout, Anderson may have the advantage because of Morgan’s perceived hesitation to strike Anderson’s head with the Carbon footprint.
Bully Ray vs. Brother Devon
Seriously, his name is Bully Ray? What is there to say about an angle that’s been played out time and time again? Devon, GET THE TABLES!!!
TNA Women’s Knockout Championship match: [C] Madison Rayne vs. Mickie James
Mickie James could very well defeat Madison Rayne to become the only woman in sports entertainment to hold the WWE Women’s and Divas titles, as well as the TNA Knockout Championship. The title does hold some presitge as Gail Kim and Awesome Kong have both held it, but it has wanned a bit over the years. Mickie James may just be the gal to put the Knockouts division back on the map. However, with a fleeting women’s division in TNA who are they going to get to contend, Cookie?
TNA Television Championship match (if AJ loses, he is out of Fortune and Immortal): [C] Douglas Williams vs. A.J. Styles
Did anyone else find it werd that AJ Styles cut a face promo when he requested another title bout against Television champion Douglas Williams? Here’s to hoping that AJ loses at Genesis so that he can part ways from Fortune/Immortal. Why? There is no doubt that Styles and Williams will put on the best pure technical match of the night, but the company should stop signing names and start building their company around Styles. And they cannot do that unless he pursues a singles career outside of Fortune.
TNA X Division Championship match: [C] Jay Lethal vs. Kazarian
Wouldn’t be surprised if Kazarian walks away the new X Division champion, but a loss to Lethal will totally hinder his status as a champion.
Rob Van Dam vs. Immortal’s Mystery Opponent
We’ve seen Rob Van Dam against Sabu, Tommy Dreamer, and Rhino. So the possibility of getting an ECW Original with enough credibility to psych wrestling fans is unlikely, unless they get Jerry Lynn. Other than that, Matt Hardy would do well to make his expected appearance as Immortal’s Mystery Opponent. The elder Hardy brother has posted YouTube videos of getting back into wrestling shape, and has stated in interviews that his ninety-day no-compete clause has expired. Since TNA Genesis will be without TNA Champion Jeff Hardy, it would do well to bring in the other Hardy.
TNA World Tag Team Championship match: [C] Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin) vs. Beer Money, Inc. (James Storm and Robert Roode)
Unfortunately this match lacks the build of their Best of Five Series. But the opportunity to see these two great tag teams in action against each other again is worth it.
Double J Double M A “Exhibition”: Jeff Jarrett vs. Kurt Angle
First off, Jeff Jarrett’s “Double J Double M A” phrase is a blatant rip off from ROH’s Austin Aries’ lottery drawing to determine contenders during his second ROH World title reign, The “A Double L Double” (Austin Aries’ Lucky Lottery). May Kurt Angle snap Jarrett’s ankle.
