It doesn’t seem as if Nattie Neidhart can catch a break without LayCool making her life a living hell. When Natalya won her first WWE Divas Championship at Survivor Series, Michelle McCool and Layla attacked her during the post match celebration. At the TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view, Natalya drove the girls through a table in the first ever Divas Tag Team Tables Match. And regardless of these victories and accepting Natalya as the better wrestler, LayCool has resorted to fat jokes.
If you looked through their respective high school yearbooks, Michelle and Layla were most likely the popular mean girls that bullied others just because they could. And that mentality hasn’t changed with LayCool driving Mickie James out of WWE, telling Rosa Mendes to lose weight (even though she’s 10lbs lighter than McCool), rhyming Kelly-Kelly‘s name with Smelly, and now belittling Natalya.
This past Raw, Natalya was successful in her first title defense against Melina, who challenged her for the title after wining a Triple-Threat match a month earlier. It was a hard-fought contest with both women providing intense grappling action in the alloted four-minute time slot. And once again her celebration was interrupted by LayCool demanding to invoke their rematch clause at the Royal Rumble.
Now, Natalya has outsmarted the flawless duo before, and has since elevated her game by quickly tapping out Divas from both Raw and Smackdown locker rooms; while LayCool have individually suffered loses to “The Glamazon” Beth Phoenix. So unless LayCool employes a third member to LayCool, possibly an enforcer, they don’t stand much of a chance against the Divas Champion.
As for Natalya’s most recent opponent, Melina had an outstanding outing against the champion. With the rosters so shallow of women wrestlers WWE would be wise to continue their program to WrestleMania. There is no doubt that these two could have the kind of WrestleMania magic that Mickie James and Trish Stratus had at WrestleMania 22.
