Who Brings It to Monday Night Raw? Is it the The Great One? The Chain Gang Soldier? or The most must-see WWE Champion in history?
Since The Rock’s grandiose return to the WWE (live and via satellite), the millions and millions of The Rock’s fans, and John Cena’s CeNation have been captivated over the war of words between their heroes. But what about The Miz? Shouldn’t WrestleMania revolve around the WWE Champion?
During Rocky’s epic return promo, he called Cena a “Big fat bowl of Fruity Pebbles,” while all he had to say about the Miz was that he “absolutely, undoubtedly, unquestionably, 100% completely suck!” The Miz took offense to The Rock’s insult, but for a different reason.
The Rock has always been known as The Most Electrifying Man in all of Sports Entertainment, able to layeth the smackdown on all their candy asses at the drop of a dime. And with that legacy came the greatest series of insults unmatched by any performer in all of professional wrestling. So when The Rock started mocking Cena’s wardrobe and the “You Can’t See Me” taunts, The Miz, as sure as he is the WWE Champion, was expecting a similar well thought-out series of insults. Instead, The Rock told him that he sucked. Was that the best The Rock could do, or was The Miz not a priority on The Rock’s list of things to do before WrestleMania?
Whether The Miz is the most must-see champion is up for debate, but damn it, he is the WWE Champion. That means something. Out of the Youth Group movement, The Miz was the only one to win the United States and the Unified Tag Team Championships, followed by winning and cashing in the Money in the Bank briefcase to win the WWE Championship all in the span of a year. The Miz is a triple crown champion, so why would he become an afterthought?
While John Cena and The Rock were distracted over who could Bring It, The Miz actually Brought It for the past three weeks. The first week, The Miz won the WWE Tag Team belts while teaming with Cena. But when The Corre issued their automatic rematch, The Miz attacked Cena resulting in The Corre winning back the belts. The Miz proved two things that first week: 1) He’s surpassed the mid-card pool of talents, and 2) John Cena should never have taken his focus off of The Miz. Then in subsequent weeks, The Miz has gotten both John by surprise while getting The Rock’s attention by dropping Cena with The People’s Elbow and The Rock Bottom.
We can all laugh and cheer as The Rock and John Cena continue to trash talk one another, but action speaks louder than words. And those actions have shifted the focus of WrestleMania’s main-event back to the WWE Champion, because if The Miz didn’t have our attention before, he does now.
