At the conclusion of Raw’s Super Show main event, Triple H notified CM Punk that his match with Kevin Nash for Night of Champions had been canceled, and instead, he would face Punk himself. Many people are now raising the question, is it too much too soon?
Not at all. With conflicting stories from both Kevin Nash and Triple H, CM Punk has directed insults towards both men, but none more spiteful than the ones aimed at Hunter and his wife Stephanie. CM Punk’s disrespect towards WWE’s new Chief Operating Officer started long before SummerSlam; in fact, Punk’s insubordination is the product of years of frustration during his time in the WWE. Whereas, Kevin Nash is in the crossfire of Punk’s insults because of his association with Triple H.
The proposed match between Kevin Nash and Punk would not have worked for pay-per-view because there is no real animosity between these two men. “Big Sexy’s” actions against Punk at SummerSlam were that of a henchman and nothing more. Nash clearly didn’t devise the hit on his own, and Punk knows this. There is someone pulling the strings.
Is it Triple H, or Stephanie McMahon? Punk’s money is on Stephanie.
In turn, CM Punk emasculated his boss to his breaking point, so as to find out the real story behind SummerSlam. In return for his disparaging remarks about Triple H keeping his manhood in his wife’s purse, and having to ask her for permission to execute any decisions in regards to running the WWE, CM Punk finds himself facing off against Triple H at Night of Champions.
With Triple H promising WWE to be Bigger, Badder, Better, nothing screams more like a big time pay-per-view match than WWE’s newest “it” Superstar against the 13-time WWE Champion. This new WWE is all about delivering the best it has to offer. Bigger matches, badder villains, and better storylines.
Should CM Punk vs Triple H have waited until WrestleMania? With CM Punk already back in the WWE so soon after his advertised final match in Chicago, there is no way to contain these two men until WrestleMania. And who’s to say that Night of Champions will be their one and only match? So much can happen between now and Sunday September 18, and anything can happen during the course of their match to extend this rivalry.
