Sunday April 15, TNA Wrestling (…or Impact Wrestling) presents Lockdown at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. But while the marquee of the pay-per-view will witness Eric Bischoff and his son, Garrett, captain teams in a Lethal Lockdown match to determine who keeps the family name Bischoff, (who would want it?) wrestling fans have their eyes set on the World title picture.
What Bobby Roode and James Storm have going into Lockdown is momentum in their young careers. In the early years of TNA Wrestling, Roode and Storm were relative unknowns.
Roode being part of Team Canada in 2004, and Storm part of America’s Most Wanted in 2002, no one could have anticipated that in 10 years, they would still be around, or even still around in the main event. Kudos to these two men for not only breaking out to become one of the most successful tag teams in professional wrestling, but to have reached their destination – fighting for World championship gold.
Bobby Roode has been running roughshod all over the Impact Zone for nearly six months. On November 3, Roode turned for the worse when he smashed his best friend over the head with the patent “Beer Money” beer bottle to capture the World championship.
Since then, Bobby has kept the over-sized strapped title around his waist by nefarious means. He bypassed the likes of AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy, spat in the faces of authority, (both literal and figurative) and has aligned himself with a legal team whom have kept him from being fired or stripped of the title.
The Impact Wrestling following Bound for Glory, James Storm created a buzz in the wrestling world when he upset Kurt Angle in a matter of seconds to capture his first World title. Though Storm relieved wrestling fans because he was the first home grown talent to wear the belt in nearly two years, he was still unproven. Since losing the championship to his former Beer Money comrade, Storm has built himself from the bottom-up, giving Last Call to Last Call superkicks to anyone who stood in his way on reclaiming his World title. Through countless struggles with Angle and Bully Ray, one thing is for certain, James Storm is ready to carry the company.
The road to Beer vs Money has reached Nashville, inside of a 15-ft steel cage. Bobby Roode can no longer hide from his destined battle against his former tag mate, and he can no longer utilize a count-out or disqualification victory. In Lockdown there are no breaking the rules, except to win by any means necessary. Will Roode’s championship experience overcome The Tennessee Cowboy in his own hometown, or will Roode’s title run get a Last Call?
