As a result of the stipulation set at Turning Point, AJ Styles cannot challenge for the TNA Heavyweight championship until Bound for Glory 2013. If that wasn’t bad enough, Christopher Daniels and Kazarian have continued to torment and distract Styles. Now, after much goading on the part of Daniels and Kaz, AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels meet one last time at Final Resolution to determine who the better man truly is.When it comes to wrestling, some compete for championships and others compete simply to prove they are better. Since Styles cannot challenge the champion for his title, he only has pure competition to get him through the next 11 months. And based on his recent track record, he needs this time to regain focus.
2012 hasn’t exactly been “phenomenal” for Styles seeing as Kaz and Daniels accused him of having relations with TNA President Dixie Carter and being the father of a drug addict’s baby. Then Styles came up short in the BFG series, and ultimately lost the Tag Team titles for him and Kurt Angle. Bottom line, Styles has lost practically every match he’s been in.
At Final Resolution can Styles pull through and defeat Daniels? The answer might be disappointing but Styles probably won’t win. Daniels has a major advantage that Styles no longer possess… confidence. And no this has nothing to do with Daniels Gangnam Style dance or draping the tag title between his legs. No, Daniels association with Kazarian breathed new life in his career in TNA.
Recall that in 2010 Daniels left TNA during the early regime of Hogan-Bischoff. He had moderate success in Ring of Honor as the Television champion, (not much of one when ROH wasn’t on TV) but aside from internet wrestling fans, Daniels wasn’t a household name. Now that he’s back on TNA on Spike TV, Daniels has a partner that backs him in every way, no matter how insane the plans are.
Then again, Daniels and Kazarian wouldn’t be where they are if not for AJ Styles. The made up scandals used to persecute and destroy Styles life made Daniels the most villainous man of the IMPACT Zone. The Fallen Angel feeds off of Styles insecurities, and that’s his true edge.
Styles doesn’t have it in him to overcome Daniels, not this time around. But it’s perfectly alright because Final Resolution is the start of his redemption story. Styles has gone through uncertainties in his abilities before in 2009, which–with a little direction from Sting–lead to his reaffirmation as a wrestler and his crowning success as TNA Heavyweight champion. Styles can turn his career around again by winning the title at BFG, but before he can get there he needs to hit rock bottom. Losing to Daniels at Final Resolution is a given because AJ needs to find his way back to the top.
