“When you ride with the Aces & Eights, you never walk alone.” – ‘The President’ Bully Ray
The Aces & Eights started out as a bizarre band of renegade misfits, and have evolved into the biggest threat to hit IMPACT Wrestling since Immortal. Aces & Eights have superseded the wrestling factions of the past because they are a band of brothers. They have formed a bond based on mutual respect and a common goal to destroy TNA.
At LockDown, the world was privy to the man behind the formation of The Aces & Eights when Bully Ray turned on Jeff Hardy, in one of the most impressive swerves, to become the TNA World Heavyweight champion. Bully Ray revealed to be the President and that this entire endeavor of playing “the good guy,” marrying Brooke Hogan, and aligning himself with Sting to fend off A’s&8’s was all a part of an elaborate plan to earn Hulk Hogan’s trust, and to gain control of the World title.
For almost a year, since debuting June of last year, A’s&8’s have crushed TNA’s Heroes and have left the field in dire straits. Kurt Angle has fallen victim to his two turn-coat proteges Garrett Bischoff and Wes Briscoe; Magnus and Samoa Joe have been taken down at every effort of taking the TNA Television championship from “Sgt. at Arms” Devon; the former TNA World Heavyweight champion Jeff Hardy recently suffered a hammer shot to the head, causing him to fall from the top of a ladder into a table below at the hands of Bully Ray; and “The Cowboy” James Storm has been dealt “The Deadman’s Hand” when trying to knock some sense into the wayward AJ Styles, who, coincidentally, A’s&8’s have been trying to recruit.
AJ Styles left TNA back in December because he was tired of doing the right thing. Who could blame him? He was accused of impregnating a drug addict; he lost his opportunity to challenge for the TNA World Heavyweight championship until Bound for Glory 2013; and he lost to Christopher Daniels with his own finisher. But he’s back in black, so to speak, and he seems to be going at it alone.
Ken Anderson has reached out to Styles with a cut and a promise of a brotherhood that will never let him walk alone — as the Aces & Eights mantra stated above this post suggests. While Styles hasn’t said yes, he hasn’t said no either.
Styles’s brooding demeanor and bad blood with TNA makes him the perfect candidate for Aces & Eights. Who knows, by Slammiversary we may very well see AJ Styles with an Aces & Eights cut, a new motorcycle, and a steel chain. And if so, IMPACT Wrestling will truly be without its heroes.
But what if Styles doesn’t join? What if AJ’s whole FTW mentality is a ploy devised by Hulk & Sting to turn the tables on Aces and Eights, the same way Bully Ray twisted perception in the Club House’s favor?
Questions: Which side will AJ Styles choose? What else could Hulk Hogan do to restore order to IMPACT Wrestling? [Comment Below]
