“You sit there and you thump your bible, and you say your prayers, and it didn’t get you anywhere! Talk about your psalms, talk about John 3:16 … Austin 3:16 says I just whipped your ass!”
– Stone Cold Steve Austin
This is the 316th blog post here at WrestlingTimesX, it has been a great place to spew my thoughts on the world of professional wrestling. But seeing as this is the 316th post why not take a break, grab a Steveweiser, and write about “The Rattle Snake” Stone Cold Steve Austin?
Now for those of you who have been living under a rock, Stone Cold is a six-time WWF champion, a two-time WWF Intercontinental champion, a four-time WWF World Tag Team champion, a two-time WCW United States champion, a two-time WCW Television champion, a WCW World Tag Team champion, a NWA World Tag Team champion, a King of the Ring winner, a three-time Royal Rumble winner, and a first-pick inductee to the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2009.
Recently we heard Triple H tell Paul Heyman that he ruled the Attitude Era with an iron fist, but back then there was no greater reaction than when that glass shattered. From the Stone Cold Stunners, to the beer drinking, to the flippin’ birdies, Steve Austin was without a doubt the face of the Attitude Era.
But lets not linger too much in the past because Stone Cold surely doesn’t. Since his retirement from the world of professional wrestling, Austin has kept himself busy hunting, fishing, and acting. His most notable roles have been as Guard Dunham in the 2005 remake of The Longest Yard; as Jack Conrad in his first starring role in The Condemned; as Dan Paine in The Expendables; and his next role as Dennis Cavanaugh in the upcoming Grown Ups 2. And what’s remarkable about Austin’s part for Grown Ups 2 is that Adam Sandler had the part of Dennis Cavanaugh specifically tailored for Austin.
Aside from movies, Steve hosts a reality-competition series Redneck Island, with a third season in the works. And just recently, Steve started his own audio podcast on podcastone.com The Steve Austin Show.
That’s right, each week you can listen to Steve Austin spew his bull shit about anything that’s on his mind. And just in case you were wondering, there’s no format to the show, just random topics. He’s had some guests on the show already including WWE Hall of Famer “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels, wrestling legend Kevin Nash, and MMA fighter Chael Sonnen.
From his movies, to Redneck Island, to The Steve Austin Show, Stone Cold is content with his pain-free life. However, wrestling fans cannot help but wonder if Steve Austin will return for one more match?
Question: Who would you want Stone Cold Steve Austin to wrestle at WrestleMania?
