Triple H had the option to tweet his displeasure; he had the option to fire everyone in the back, and send everyone in the arena home; but he chose his third option, to just relax because as he says in the end, he always wins. The King of Kings, since donning the suit, has become quite the chess master; every decision he makes is calculated, and while he may lose a few pawns in the process, he always calls checkmate.
H’s “big reveal” on John Cena’s opponent at SummerSlam wasn’t the bombshell they were trying to make it out to be since WWE had already released the SummerSlam promotional poster prior to the Money in the Bank pay-per-view [read here].
When Plan A: Randy Orton winning at Money in the Bank didn’t pan out; or Plan B: Seth Rollins cashing in MITB being placed on the back burner thanks to Dean Ambrose; Paul Heyman made the suggestion to The Authority of a lucrative Plan C.
Wrestling fans already knew Paul E. was talking about Brock Lesnar, but despite knowing this ahead of time, the fact of the matter is that Paul Heyman’s promise that Lesnar is not only going to beat John Cena, but that he is going to conquer him, just like Lesnar conquered The Undertaker’s Undefeated Streak at WrestleMania, makes this bout a must-see.
The last time these two squared off, Cena got the betterment of Lesnar. And you can say that for the past two years, the defeat had fueled Lesnar to follow four simple rules: Eat, Sleep, Conquer, and Repeat. Especially now that Lesnar is strengthened by not only the soul of the Deadman, but all the souls that Taker has conquered over the twenty-plus year streak; The Beast is an entirely different animal.
SummerSlam, long regarded as WWE’s second biggest event, is off to a great start; in addition, we can already expect Bray Wyatt and Chris Jericho to throw down one more time, and Paige, with her new-found mean streak, to get another shot at AJ Lee’s Divas championship. But what SummerSlam truly needs is more Goldust and Stardust. Oh, and more Bo!
