With three weeks remaining, WWE seems to be kicking things up a notch as it reaches Extreme Rules. Already there have been three big main event matches announced and still many more to follow. With The Shield continuing to run rampant; Ryback making his own rules; and the combatants to the Triple-threat ladder match for the WWE World Heavyweight championship providing stellar matches; the road to Extreme Rules feels better than that of WrestleMania.
Not saying that it wasn’t fun seeing The Great One with the WWE championship electrifying every arena; or the great lengths CM Punk took to get under The Deadman’s skin; but this time around the younger talents are getting to shine.
For the past several weeks, The Shield has been in the main event picture; Ryback has made himself the next threat to John Cena’s WWE title; and the Fandangoing craze continues to sweep the world.
[WTX Short: WTX Fandangoing coming soon]
With The Shield heavily targeting The Undertaker and Team Hell No, will we see the anticipated 6-man rematch? Could we eventually see Dean Ambrose, whose already done battle with The Undertaker, and soon meet Kane, as a main event player?
We’ve all seen the random interviews get critically interrupted as The World’s Strongest Man viciously assaulted The Celtic Warrior. They have fought backstage, caused distractions during each others matches, and have showcased their strengths, how will it boil down? What will be the big pay off stipulation at Extreme Rules? Perhaps a bull rope match? Those can be pretty brutal. Don’t believe me, YouTube some bull rope matches with Dusty Rhodes to see how extreme it can be.
Then there’s Fandango (Faaaaan Daaaaan Goooo!) who will certainly find himself in a match against Chris Jericho. In his first ever match at WrestleMania, Fandango knocked off the first-ever Undisputed WWE champion. So what type of stipulation could these two face? Let’s just hope it’s not another dance-off because please… stop the pain.
As of right now, Extreme Rules is turning out to be a great post-WrestleMania pay-per-view as opposed to Backlash. But the wrestling purists (if they haven’t already) will start mashing the keyboards on the message boards and proclaim that WWE isn’t extreme. Extreme isn’t all blood, trash cans, kendo sticks, and barbed wire bats on fire, it’s about animosity intensified with extreme stipulations.
